Megan fizzled with nervous energy, and he wondered what she was up to now. They had the not-such-a-surprise party later, but even so. From the way she kept checking her cell phone and replying to texts, he knew there was more going on.

He’d not seen Dion or any of his other friends this week, and looked forward to catching up with them tonight and telling them Megan wore his ring. Yeah. His wolf strutted every time he thought about that. He was one lucky wolf. He’d phoned his parents and Tammy, and then Jake and Lillian. Megan’s family had taken it well, and it was probably just his imagination, but the Hellspawn were no longer being such assholes. Alex had asked about his hometown in Wales, and seemed genuinely interested in knowing about it. Weird.

They didn’t leave for Mighty Mike’s until almost nine, by which time Megan acted as though she’d burst with excitement. Sasha watched the wiggle of her delicious ass, leading him up the stairs to the top floor club. The muffled boom of rock music assaulted his sensitive eardrums, but the enormous bouncer at the door slipped him a pair of foam earplugs, and the noise muted to an enjoyable level.

Sasha got a real buzz from Mighty Mike’s, Non-shifters came here too. Some commented on the strange vibe, but many felt uneasy. Not Megan though. He’d figured out she most likely had some shifter blood in her heritage, many generations back. It made sense for his wolf to recognise that, and for her to accept him so well.

They arrived just as the first band was finishing. Lost in thought, he was startled when one familiar face after another greeted them in the club. Dion bounded over to greet him, and they fist-bumped. “Just in time, man. We’re on next.” Dion bounced on the balls of his feet as his spoke, his attention darting all over the place. “Dude, it’s going to be an awesome gig tonight.” He clapped Sasha on the shoulder. “Best one yet.”

Maybe there was a talent scout in the audience? The prospect of a record deal was the only thing that could make Dion so hyper. Time to do some fishing. “Special guest in the crowd tonight, eh?”

“What?” Dion froze. “Who told you?”

Sasha jerked his chin at the Hellspawn. “Alex. Or it might have been Hugh.”

“Holy fuck. Megan is going to seriously kick their asses.” Dion shook his head and leaned closer. “Pretend it’s a surprise. She’s put a fuck-load of effort into this.”

“Yeah, of course.” Before he could wheedle anything more from his friend, Dion was called away, and went to take his place on the stage.

What was Sasha’s Mate up to? He turned to look for Megan, and found her instinctively in the press of people gathered around the bar. As though recognizing his gaze, she glanced over her shoulder and flashed him a smile. They probably only had a few minutes before Dion’s band started up, and this time Sasha meant to get some answers.

He strode toward the bar, only to be sidetracked by a hand on his arm. “Hey, Crasher.”

Crasher? Only one person called him that. He spun around to see Tammy, his twin sister. “Tamster?” He’d spoken to her a few days ago. She’d been at home. In Wales. Thousands of miles away.

“Don’t I get a hug, bro?” She smiled, and the next moment was hugging him, squeezing him tight. Sasha’s heart felt as though it would burst. This was what his Mate had been planning.

“When… How did you get here?” It was a dumb question, but Tam didn’t laugh. She just ruffled his hair, and kissed his cheek.

“We’re all here. Megan worked out the details with Lillian.” All here? Sasha could have been beaten around the head with a baseball bat, for all the sense his brain was making. He followed his twin’s outstretched hand, and saw his parents, Jake, and Lillian. Damn, if his vision didn’t go blurry for just a second. He didn’t know what to do first. Greet his family—here, when he thought they were on the other side of the world—or kiss the fuck out of his wonderful, thoughtful, amazingly fuckin’ brilliant Mate.

Several things became clear over the next hour. Lillian planned to guest with Dion’s band, as well as performing after midnight. No wonder Dion had been so excited. Alex and Hugh were both awestruck at meeting Lillian, and now treated Sasha with something close to reverence. Tam and the others would be staying in Wellington for a week, and so he’d have plenty of time to catch up with them.

And Megan had, without a doubt, made this the most memorable Christmas ever.

  A Handful of Wolf

Sasha's not a looking-to-the-future kind of guy, but he's made an exception with his plans to travel and meet lots of pretty girls. Too bad his Pack Alpha, fate, and reality have other ideas about his trip abroad. He's pretty sure he didn't sign on to be a diplomat for the Snowdonia Wolf Pack. Or to find a Mate. Especially not a human Mate.

Megan knows better than to let a sweet-talking charmer get under her skin, but Sasha's sexy playfulness is making her forget all her rules. Except one: she's not willing to risk her heart by falling in love. The gorgeous boy from Wales can only be a fling, especially since her over-protective brothers hate him on sight.

In the midst of a wolf uprising, a hesitant Mate, and Megan’s complicated family ties, Sasha learns that sometimes impulsiveness is dangerous and even lethal. Can he show Megan why they belong together before it all comes crashing down around him and he loses his Mate forever?
